From One Clinician to 50,000 Families: A Decade of Making the Invisible Visible
WASHINGTON, DC — March 5, 2026 — TheraPetic® Solutions Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit healthcare provider network, today marks its 10th anniversary of connecting individuals with licensed clinicians for evidence-based emotional support animal (ESA) and psychiatric service dog (PSD) evaluations.
Founded in 2016 by Dr. Patrick Fisher, PhD, LPC, NCC, TheraPetic was created in direct response to the proliferation of online mills selling fraudulent ESA letters without clinical evaluation. What began as a single clinician’s commitment to protecting vulnerable people has grown into a national network that has served more than 50,000 families.
“Ten years ago, there was almost no legitimate pathway for someone with an invisible disability to get properly evaluated for an emotional support animal,” said Dr. Fisher. “The market was dominated by $99 letter mills that never talked to the patient. We built TheraPetic to prove that clinical integrity and accessibility aren’t mutually exclusive.”
By the Numbers: 2016–2026
Milestones
2016: TheraPetic founded in Washington, DC. EIN 81-3003968 filed as 501(c)(3).
2017: Launched iOS and Android apps for client document management.
2018: Dr. Fisher obtains DC LPC license (#PRC14016). Practice expands to multi-state coverage.
2019: 10,000 families served. BBB accreditation achieved.
2021: Dr. Fisher completes PhD in Educational Psychology. Dissertation on ESA efficacy published in ProQuest and Walden ScholarWorks.
2022: Baltimore clinic opens (The Clinic by Dr. Patrick Fisher, Druid Hill Ave).
2024: 40,000 families served. Candid/GuideStar Platinum Transparency Seal awarded.
2025: The Invisible Bond (Book 1) published — translating doctoral ESA research into public narrative.
2026: The Invisible Disability (Book 2) published. Therapeutic Forgiveness Framework™ white paper indexed with DOI. 50,000 families served. Ten years.
